You will have a window seat with unimpaired views as you fly to Milford Sound through a landscape of unbelievable grandeur and beauty, flying over the Southern Alps, experiencing the sights of mountain lakes and waterfalls, forested river valleys, jagged razor-backed ridge lines and glaciers along the way.
Flying out over the Tasman Sea and through the fiord itself on the approach to land, on arrival into Milford you will have the opportunity to explore the shores with our three short walks, taking you to unmissable vantage points and through awesome wilderness.
Starting with Milford’s best-kept secret, the Bowen Falls Walk, a small boat will transport you to the track that winds its way round right to the base of plunging Lady Bowen Falls, the tallest waterfall in Milford Sound. Experience this unique view from below so close up that you’ll feel the spray in your face as the freshwater crashes the 162 metres falls. (PLEASE NOTE: This is unfortunately not available 1st June - 31st September)
Wander through beech forest and alongside the sandy shores of majestic Milford Sound on the boardwalks of the Foreshore Loop Track for some of the best views of iconic Mitre Peak, standing a proud 1,692 metres above sea level. Learn more about the area through the interpretive visitor panels and take a moment to enjoy the best seat in the house, the Milford Sound swing – you may have seen the gorgeous photos on your Instagram feed.
Get an awesome perspective of Milford Sound framed by native bush when you climb the stairs of the Lookout Track, the short walk winds its way up to a spectacular viewpoint.
Finish off with a bite to eat from Discover Milford Café or bring your own picnic and enjoy lunch with a view on the benches overlooking the Sound and Mitre Peak before meeting your pilot for your return scenic flight to Queenstown.
